CHIEN YU LIU
Chien Yu Liu works in interdisciplinary contexts across jewellery, metalsmithing, and photography. She gained the bench skills at Melbourne Polytechnic and then carried on completing the Graduate Certificate as well as her MA degree from Birmingham City School of Jewellery.
statement
I attempt to interrogate the boundary between absence and presence, heaviness and lightness. I like to manifest the metallic mediums in the various manual processes. It is, in the meanwhile, contemplative so that I am attentive to the preciousness relies on the artisanal efforts.
AWARDS
Chien Yu first got selected to the Klimt02 JPLUS Award. Then she has granted in several international art jewellery contests, including the JOYA Award at Athens Jewelry Week 2020, the Findings Issue 70 Competition, the Amber Trip 2020 Art Jewelry Contest, and a top-5 artist of Arte y Joya International Award 2021. Her creativity often arises from a combination of the personal experiences, the creative process itself, and her awareness of both. These experiences are tangible aspects of real life and involve a long, meaningful journey.
